Our Mission

India has the largest population of TB patients in the world, many of whom have multiple drug resistant TB (MDR-TB). At our organization we feel that all TB patients should be given the best chance to survive. Too often, treatment fails because patients do not have the funds to complete their course of medicines. Additionally, MDR-TB patients are not treated adequately under government TB programs, as their treatment is too costly and complicated. An average MDR-TB patient incurs a cost of Rs. 3.8 lakh (5,600 USD) from the time he is diagnosed to the time he is cured. This is a "catastrophic health costs" (defined by the WHO as > 40% of discretionary income) for the typical patient.

Our mission is to alleviate the problems faced by tuberculosis patients in India, which range from affording expensive drugs, to getting sufficient nutrition and employment.

The DefeatTB Foundation aims to collect donations in order to not only fund the treatment of these patients but also to improve their living conditions thereby preventing complications of their disease in to further forms of drug resistant TB. Your help along with the awareness we aim to raise is a small step to limit the spread of tuberculosis.

We ensure that our donors’ money, time or expertise is best utilized to support and improve the lives of these desperately ill patients.
